Exact Aesthetics

Exploring beauty of algorithmic images — Computers in art are no longer utilized as mere visualization tools, but rather as creative partners with a considerable share of aesthetic responsibility. Independent intelligence of the machine motivates artists and critics to think procedurally about concepts of design and aesthetic evaluation. Our research is focused on proposing and verifying computational models for algorithmic beauty assessment of generative art.

Conceptual Drawing in 3d

Modeling spatial scenes with 3d brush in virtual environment — Brush movement is controlled in real time with human gestures. Innovative position marking concept allows users to move freely in space, raising the interaction and immersion to a brand new level. The process of creation is inspired by action painting, going straight from an idea to its visual representation. Such conceptual technique better suits creativity needs of artists, especially those with lower computer literacy.

Geometric Sculpture

Real-time modeling of geometric sculptures with free-form tools in virtual environment — Scupltures are generated from planar components applying 3d symmetries of polyhedra. Both the component shape and system of symmetries for the particular polyhedron are directly editable. This combination of interactive and generative approach leads to creating sophisticated scupltures with intuitive gestures and eventual fine-tuning of symmetry parameters.
